A most excellent telling of the truth.
Very powerful.

I take some exception to the last two lines though. You never believed did you? Why say we? Put the blame where it belongs.

I think there should be a national campaign to shun all those who voted for this. Like the cavemen did (purportedly), anyone who acts in such a way as to endanger the clan gets put out in the cold, cut from society. The time for polite attempts at understanding has passed.

Thank you so much, Speck.

Definitely a fair exception. And thank you for saying it. If you feel inspired to remix this and leave off those lines, please go right ahead. I get that.

I think of the blame as a spectrum that we’re all part of… The vile sociopathic billionaires and sycophants at one end… the supporting cult members in power… the people who voted for this… and more so, the people who still support this… then… the rest of us, wherever we fall. The collective that has allowed it.

When I saw Noam Chomsky and Deepak Chopra in the files, something changed in me. I mean, the Clintons have always been power-hungry politicians, but those two? Even those in academia and wellness are part of this. Everything is crashing down.

And that made me look within. I know that I could do more. Overall, I’ve been comfortable with my level of privilege and I haven’t done nearly enough to fight the systemic inequality and oppression of late stage capitalism. I think that’s my point of saying we. To encourage us all to look within.

Hah, Chopra doesn’t surprise me (I’m not paying too much attention to the files so this is the first time I’m seeing this). Actually validates my first and lasting impression of him. A fraud exploiting people’s yearning for growth/knowledge to get filthy rich. I mean, how many books does it take to say “love one another, including yourself”. (According to a quick search, he’s written 90.)

Anyway, thanks for tolerating my feedback.

Yeah, Noam is the one that really messes with my brain.

And really, thank you for your feedback! Maybe it’s a more powerful piece without those last 2 lines. I mean, do we really need to share the blame?

I don’t know. All I know is that the old story is collapsing. And maybe me blaming myself is part of their design. We were conditioned to believe that working hard means you’ll rise to the top! And if not, well, you just didn’t try hard enough. So my inclination to blame myself fits perfectly into the conditioning. I’m having a bit of an existential meltdown over this shit.

Thank you for being you.

As society becomes more tolerant and accepting we create a world where those whose moral compass is broken feel entitled to act in disgraceful ways.

The “Chancers” have always been there but now they feel they have the right to act anyway they want too supported by a society that says anything is permissable in the name of freedom.

Excellent words and delivery
