This is awesome… I like the steady even delivery, the use of the stereo field, the use of EQ and delay for placing the vocals in different places in the song, and of course the awesome lyric. Powerful.

Very nice, Kara! Clarence’s music was a perfect choice, and your pella is very “Kara-ish” what we like very much!

Thank you, Zapac. I’m glad you dig the choice of Clarence’s music… I was fond of it as soon as I heard it. I’m also glad that “Kara-ish” is liked. :)

Very nice addition to Rooted Strings. It’s almost like mind control lol, what you have done here.

So did you write this or was it the talking cartoon brain in your skull? ;)
I have to admit that a spoken word treatment was not what I was expecting, but I think it turned out pretty well. And of course that’s one of the best things about ccM - the unexpected. I like the single word stuff at the beginning. Kinda like a chant of sorts. I also can’t help but think that it reminds me of Madonna’s “Justify My Love” (though with a VERY different theme of course). :P The different vocal layers were also a really nice touch. I especially liked what you did with them toward the end. Thanks for the remix! |
.
When I heard your instrumental, I knew I wanted to work with it. I didn’t know it would end up a spoken word either. :) You are the first to ever compare something I’ve done with Madonna… Awesome. Thanks for listening and reviewing… it was a pleasure to work with your beautiful arrangement.

A great pairing indeed. Personally I would have liked to have your voice a wee bit louder in the mix.
|
.
Well, thank you Subliminal. And thanks for your thoughts on the vox levels. It’s always tricky for me to know where exactly how loud to make them. Instinctually, I tend to put them a bit too loud, so I try to back them off a bit for the final mix… perhaps incorrectly. :)

I gotta say to Im amazed at that the instrumentals were developed separate of the vox, it goes so well together.
The middle 8 (or maybe it was the 2nd middle 8 hehe) reminds me of a song from Japan but I can’t for the life remember… |
.
Thank you, Papa_Zulu. I was highly influenced by the Clarence’s instrumental and recorded the vox to it… So I’m glad it seems fully integrated. Thanks for listening and reviewing.
