I like that little synth melody with which you begin, and the robotic rhythm line somehow fits despite being less “organic” sounding than the melody.
The vocals fit pretty well here, although I’d like to hear them “up” in the mix. You really get a quiet, downtempo feel here. I like the way you work the melody around the “I’m thinkin’ about fixin’ my brain” refrain—a kind of quiet, barely perceptible build-up that works. This is a very smooth mix. I think it would be more fun if it has been beatless, or if you had, on the other hand, exaggerated the slightly robotic nature of the beats with some mechamical freesound samples. This is a nice, understated take on this song that’s a good listen. Nice song. It would work at 4/5 the bpm as a nice instrumental, too. |
