I think, to clarify, the drop tuning was more of a happy accident than anything deliberate. I had to look that term up to understand it’s meaning. While I was arranging the music, I encountered two problems…

The first problem is, while I am certainly not tone deaf, I had to guess what key Loveshadow (indeed everyone) is singing in. I guessed it was A, maybe A-minor, (I wish it were a requirement for pells to be posted not just with the bpm but also the key lol). Anyway, that was my first problem….

The second was I had already decided on the style and loops I really wanted to arrange. First, the set of loops I used were originally 90bpm, so I had to slow them down to 78bpm, which changed the consistency of the sound slightly (barely noticeable once arranged), and second, the original key of the set is Bm, so I upped the key straight to Am. That not only altered the entire set, but to my ears sounded like a perfect fit. Then I took it from there, and a happy accident occurred.

Three cheers for subconsciousness creativity! And thank you for pointing that out, now I think I can do it again on purpose if it sounds like it’ll tickle my ears :-) I learn something new every time I open my DAW.
