Indeed beautiful and moving. Are you sure you’ve got the right to use Alison Crowe’s track?

Hi St. Paul, I was under the impression I could but to check I have just this minute send an email to Allison Crowe to clarify the point with a promise to remove this mix immediately if she disapproves of its use. Many thanks for highlighting this issue. I’m glad you like it though. I only hope Allisin feels the same.

Hi again St.Paul,
Here is the official response: Dear Syenta ~ I serve as manager to Allison Crowe - who is - well, I’m not sure where Allison is this weekend, but, she’s not checking in as far as I know! So, to answer your question sooner than later, as long as your remix follows the CC License for the song “Secrets (That Aren’t My Own)”, which is BY-NC-SA 3.0, then, I am sure you are working in alignment with the wishes of Allison. (I believe all of Allison’s original songs have this same license.) Thank you, and St. Paul, for your conscientiousness and wanting to be clear on Allison’s wishes for her song(s). Happy remixing! cheers, Adrian |

Thanks, but I am grateful for you raising the issue. I have another finished piece of music which should not have been used, so I cannot upload it, yet. I am waiting again for the musician owning this music to give me permission to upload it, which I hope will happen soon. So watch out for it!

I don’t think there’s any ambiguity here…? She’s clearly licensed her entire album in a fashion that permits derivative works, or am I missing something?
http://www.jamendo.com/en/a... I don’t think you can even put music that isn’t licensed CC on Jamendo, which is why we include it as a sample pool, and her album tag shows she permits derivative works, as long as you share alike. |
