Thanks, Siobhan, very cool. And interesting that you wanted to avoid the blues feel, since this started out as a sort of 40’s retro dance tune I could never get around to finishing. I defaulted to easy and did this one for the Valentine’s Day event last year :-) Maybe I will try the original idea, too, now…

This can be a bit challenging.
In the 40’s there have been quiet a few trends going on.
On one hand there were some Jazz beats becoming popular (BeBop) on the other hand spanish rhythms influenced american music (it was a vice versa influence in the 40s/50s). Mambo became popular around that time as well.
I trust finding the right beat is critical to make this a 40s alike dance track.
I have tried it with some brazil beat and that would work pretty well.

Excellent. Nice clean sound and movement. Should be a fun set of samples to play with too.

My bass inspiration guess (probably wrong) - Fat Boy Slim’s Weapon Of Choice?

Thank you for the compliment. And the guess was good (needed to listen to the track first) - but not fit. Cool beat by FBS..and cool video as well. ;-).
Hint: Female Singer / popular 80s 90s

I think the only popular female singer I know from that era is Bjork. So I guess my second guess is Human Behavior.
