Loving the sounds you got out of your bass. Did not expect you to try anything with this as it is so unstructured. But so glad you did. It’s attractively bizarre. It’s also inspirational. I think maybe I’ll continue the experiment by seeing what happens if I scratch this piano and try to play to/with your bass.

Thank you Speck. I found the first part of your piano quite structured, so I tried preparing delicate ears to what was coming next by adding a bass solo at the start ;)

I mostly played A minor and a D.

Interesting. I played a few tracks earlier today (before reading this) and I found myself landing mostly on D, A and G (the keyboard/controller is marked).

All those notes are in the A minor key, so that’s perfect ;)

I’m rather curious if a pedal - like the chorus - is usable for you, since it might mess up the range of my annoying hiss. I would appreciate it if you let me know.

Well, I like to think I can use anything. But I believe most remixers prefer straight mono no fx material. Clean starting point.

Btw - the noise reduction plug-in that’s part of my main editor (Sound Forge) seems to clean up that buzz rather nicely (not the buzz in the beginning of this track, which is intentional(?) and I like a lot, but your usual buzz) with one click of the mouse. Probably takes a certain frequency range out of the rest of the sound but I think it’s a pretty narrow one and when I put it in the mix I add a little reverb (usually, not always) and all is well. At least to my ears. How about yours?

Yes, in your new upload it sounds great. I don’t miss anything sound-wise. In fact, it might even sound better (wider range) then the original recording.

The first buzz is from the (battery-feeded) milk mixer, it intervenes with the bass pickup. Btw, the chorus is not fx but a real effect pedal. So it actually influences your playing, which I really like (to me, fx just adds some effect afterwards, which can be great, but it doesn’t make you play any different).

I was kind of worried that the effect pedal made my (usual) hiss uncontrolable. Glad it didn’t. Certain songs just call for it. Now I might use some more in the future :)

i don’t find this to be atonal but rather, subtly melodic with intriguing sounds tugging at my ears, pulling me inward.

I just saw time melt before my eyes…well I might be stretching a Dali-esque image but I think your piece serves as a rather lovely experimental jazz work. Good work Marti bro
