We only had salted peanuts at Xmas. They came in a large metal tin and tasted heavenley. My Mother insisted we had boxes of dates and figs as well and that we ate at least one!
We had selection boxes full of more sweets and chocolate than we could eat in one sitting despite our best attempts.
There were various cakes my mother had baked which being Xmas were covered in thick layers of icing that you had to navigate through to get to the good stuff. There were Xmas stockings put up empty the night before now bulging with more sweets, small toys, silver coins and oranges.
Leslie Crowther was always on the TV coming live from a childrens hospital and the Queens speech was a must watch event.

I stopped believing in Father Xmas a few years ago now but I still hope that somewhere a few retired elves are having a good chuckle at us as we buy our way to happiness.

Wonderfully evocative BT to accompany Kara’s plaintive but emotional vocal

Ahhhh! This is LOVELY, Stefan. I’m delighted… your mix is the perfect amount of festive and melancholy. Beautiful. Thank you so much.

Whish I had noticed the song earlier. But on the other hand now I have a first song for 2019s Creative Christmas Calendar. :)
