Right?! I assumed they were bears, too. Only last week, I learned that opossums are also marsupials. We had 3 of them in our backyard one morning… unusual, as they’re supposed to be nocturnal. But then, 2 of 3 were busy getting busy (quite a violent seeming act for them!), so they must not have cared too much about the light.

Reading the word ‘opossum’ reminds me of a scene in Breaking Bad where Jesse asks (paraphrasing) “When did they start calling them opossums? What are they, Irish?”
