Process

The majority of my focus on this mix was the vocals (seeing as I don't really know much about production). I did try to enhance/bring out the sound of the piano in this mix because I think it's a really delicious part that got lost a bit in Jeris' original mix. I also like the bass part a lot too so I attempted to keep it from getting lost in the mix. I did edit the guitar solo to take out bits that I thought were disharmonic.

I started with dry stems. As for the vocals, I use some basic eq and compression settings in an attempt to brighten the vocals and keep them up front. I tripled Jeris' lead vocal and mixed it with one track dry, one with a short reverb, the third with a longer reverb. I panned the effected vox. I doubled his harmony vocals also, panned them and added short verb to one, longer to the other. I mixed his harmony vocals relatively low as his lead has a raw, direct and warm quality that I hoped to retain, and perhaps even emphasize.

I double tracked each of my harmony vocal parts so I could pan them and add different reverbs to each part, using primarily a short reverb on one and large reverb on the other, and including a lot of reverb in the mix as the intention was to keep them soft and somewhat distant.

Other Notes

I'm totally growing up in public here. If anyone wants to reproduce this remix, let me know and I'll send you my vocal stems. I would love to hear this really well produced.

Oh, and this is just a headphone mix.
