Tools I Used
Reason, Cubase for the basic mix. Wavelab Essential with Izotope ozone 3 for the mastering.
Samples I Used
The drums were stock factory sound bank hip hop beat. The strings, piano, horns, bass were all NNXT samples.
Process
Came up with the parts, then went here and found a good hip hop vocal. Had to go into the Reason then and adjust things around. Dumped it out of Reason (I shy away from Rewire) to Cubase where I combined it with the vocals. Exported that mix (24bit) and mastered it in Wavelab with Izotope Ozone.
Other Notes
Was kind of going for a Curtis Mayfield (one of the greats) feel. May have missed the mark, but gave it a shot.
