Vocal sources were selected based on common notions associated with Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol”: love, happiness, togetherness, thankfulness, merriment, faith, charity, humbug, redemption, lament, breakdowns and breakthroughs.

Songs Sections and the Players

Intro: Electronico and ElRon are once again on their way to lunch recording with a smartphone.

Part 1: MdB’s bass (“Inner Eye”) and Apoxode (“Catalyst Drums”) kick off the jam with Ebeneezer Scrooge (actor Alistair Sim, A Christmas Carol, 1951) declaring redemption.

Part 2: MdB’s bass (“Data Boot”) jamming with funk drums, guitar and horns.

Part 3: MdB’s bass (“Inner Eye”), Apoxode “Catalyst Drums”, and rhythm guitar accompany Admiral Bob’s lead guitar.

Part 4: Apoxode “Catalyst Drums” layered with Copperheads’ “Always drums” accompany Spinningmerkaba’s (“A Mirror for the Stars”) lead and rhythm guitars

Part 5: JLang’s jingle bells (“Seasons of Love”), MdB’s bass (“Inner Eye”) and Copperheads’ “Always drums” layered with neo-soul drums accompany BOCrew vocal, tenor sax and guitar. Ebeneezer Scrooge declares redemption.

Petit papa Noel

In keeping with Marley’s lament about the need to effect happiness, inserted the following, “I’m sure happiness exists so make everyone happy, be very affectionate,” if the edits are correct.

Part 6: The two vocal sections in Siobhan’s “Love is the answer” well addressed the common themes of this mix. The audio sample was decomposed into four tracks: bass, drum, vocal and remaining instruments. Clap volume was slightly reduced at 4.5KHz. Volume on Emily’s and Ms Vybe’s vocals were increased.

Part 7:
JLang’s rise (“Season of Love”) transitions the mix into Radioontheshelf’s pad (“A Shortage of Beds”) which accompanies clips of Kyle Munley’s LibriVox reading of a Christmas Carol. MdB bass and Apoxode drums provide the transition to the next part.

Part 8: Scrooge cries out humbug. A scream is heard in reply. Marley’s ghost, played by Michael Horndern, schools Ebeneezer on responsibility and laments his failure in life to effect happiness.

Part 9: “Love” is on top of Emily’s Christmas list.

Part 10: Ebeneezer Scrooge declares redemption.
Outro: Electronico and ElRon reflect on the term “humbug” and remind the listener to use “humbuggers” on their guitar pickups.
