Genesis of the song

While updating our sample and loop library, got easly sidetracked fooling around with a LoFi dubstep bass and drum groove. And, so library updates halted in favor of fooling around with new sounds.

Decided to create a single session, no frills dubstepper. So, the hunt was on for a vocal. Searched on 140 bpm A Cappellas not previously remixed. Power Music by Donnie Ozone was first on the list of candidates, it was a match and happily the search ended there.

To changed up Donnie’s relentless call to keep the party rockin’, used Gross Beat after the second verse to glitch his voice. The first preset auditioned happily created a cool rhythmic vocal riff.

Power music often brings to mind powerful distorted guitars. Looked for a guitar about 140 bpm in F and found unreal_dm’s F-150. Roadhouse guitar over dubstep bass and drum was clearly worth a try. Cutting and pasting a few guitar riffs thoroughly mangled and distorted by a Red Skull Distortion plugin seemed a LoFi fit.

For the outro, grabbed a couple of unused riffs from ElRon’s recording of Camburn’s Rock Hard 1: Crank It Up and ran them through an Amplitube distortion preset.
