Christmas time is gift time. And while I still not consider me gifted, I made myself a gift. (Yeah, there were clowns in the cereals…) Last year Moog released Mariana. A quite interesting synthesizer VST that grabbed my attention quite instantly. It reminds me a lot of my DFAM but it is a VST and such can be automated in Ableton…

In this little piece I used three different factory settings (think I tweaked them a little bit): A lead bass (they call it a percussive bass), a bounce bass and a lead bass (used for the riser). I played around with percussive modes but ran out of tracks. Finally bought the whole Ableton Suite, but still waiting for the license code…

But how to make this a legit remix? svaenski was so kind to provide some percussive loops I cut into pieces and created a custom drum rack with. But is this enought? Do not think so. One might have noticed: I’m a huge fan of cutting vocals into pieces, so once again So Sha had to suffer (hopefully not too much…).

But there was still something lacking. Quite deep in my mind there was an acapella. One I really like. I know for year but never used. Hektor Thillet (aka coffeeeurope) arouse from deep of my subconsiusness. But which pella was it? Eventually “Abstract Audio” popped up in my mind and - click - there it was: Maria. I feel free to ref if as a source. Please consider this a honarable (ment) mention.

A loooot of plugins and automations later, it is done. Thanks for reading and hope you enjoy this remix. :)
