A stab at a reboot of the copperhead/texasradiofish track.

I sit on the bed in a room with no view
Rocking myself like a child of two
Wind at my window calling loud
Sky is falling, cloud by cloud

The bus was late so I started to walk
My feet hurt and my hands shook
The storm blew in from across the bay
It nearly blew the old sign away

Pushing, pulling, breathing hard
Taking my heart to the breaker’s yard

The day’s a treadmill under lead skies
The nights are full of animal cries
Every day I scour my landlady’s mat
Looking for a letter that I’ll never get

The sun is setting like concrete
Last rays in my eyes as I pace the street
Can’t read the names on the cenotaph
Spied the moon but it’s been cut in half

Pushing, pulling, breathing hard
Taking my heart to the breaker’s yard

Sat on the bed in a room with no view
Willing you to remember what you said you’d do
Willing you to do what you said you would
As if my will could do any good

I dream of traps with steel teeth
In silent films with no words underneath
The only word that I heard is No
Clouds fall like a wall of snow

Pushing, pulling, breathing hard
Taking my heart to the breaker’s yard
