Yesterdays Blues
The most popular keys for the blues are E and A with a good dosing of a major third. Here Mr Yesterday throws caution to the wind and gets on board with a nice big D major and in doing so offers us a great vocal and lyric . I only used his vocal on this track but the melody is all based around his understated piano. To give the girls some room to perform I did take the middle eights down to A minor but the mix is inspired by Mr Y’s wonderful performance.
I am a great believer in the theory that songs are all around us. We just need a good enough net to catch them. I guess that’s how Paul McCartney got to Yesterday before me!!! Many thanks to Doug Rogers for the girls backing vocals and to Simon for letting his mother out of the cupboard to sing the really angsty parts
