These Are The Best Days !

I will try not to make these notes too Long.:-)

For the past two years i have battled both some physical and mental health issues that have taken me to some very dark places.

When you arrive in those places there seems to be no way out. I certainly never expected to be in a position to do this remix and the journey, below the surface of its creation, is more leviathan than anyone can know.

Suffice to say I have so much gratitude for those in my life who have helped pull me from the depths. Amongst them is Snowflake, who last month made something of a pilgrimage to come and see me personally and in making that detour, resulted in us recording and writing together for the first time. It was an overwhelmingly special and emotional moment, to spend time with her and her husband and their arrival provided yet another step in healing me. It was an act of true encouragement and love that remains very dear to me, and I humbly let it in and receive it.

Then to the CC Mixter and wider faceless community, that over the years have supported my music. Even when at my lowest, a comment or like is emailed to me and in the past I have been guilty of not fully receiving that praise, although I have always appreciated it. It’s just what I do,so I say truly,thank you to anyone who has ever listened commented or liked, my crazy, varied musical output.

And so to this mix.There is some additional strange power at play here as a few days before Snowflake met with me she was with So Sha. When we met, we had a conversation about that and so it seemed more than odd to receive her as my target for a remix.

I thought it was going to be easy but when I downloaded the So Sha catalogue, I found there were hundreds of stems to go through and realised, many people had already created great work with them. Its ironic then that I chose to make more. Let me explain.

This vocal resonated about these days being the best.We exist in the now, not the past,one day at a time.So I began crafting a song that delivered that simple statement. But when I had formed my arrangement, I found there was only one verse and I desperately wanted another. So in ‘these days’ of AI, I cloned her vocal stems and created an AI model. I then sang the second verse myself,after studying her inflection and accent, until my conversion got pretty close.

I trialed it with people who didn’t know, and no one thought it was not her singing, although she may beg to differ. I further used a clone of my own voice and then used the entire So Sha comped vocal, to create a version with me singing it virtually, for the backing.

So, if you made it to the end of these ramblings, then thank you again from the bottom, top and middle of my heart, which last week I got to see for real ( that’s another story).

These are the best days for sure.
