I love this backing track of Colab’s. I’m thinking of taking it away for a romantic weekend.

All the experts are wondering what to do about Em
Her parents try to talk to her but she won’t talk to them
She’s in a place where she has her own room
Every wall is bare and it’s like an upstairs tomb
No posters of young icon with pristine pretty face
It’s another thing they touch on when they discuss her case
Inside Em is pulled apart, she’s too thin but can’t be fat
Her brain’s gone small and shrivelled from struggling with all that

She can’t survive at 4st 3lbs but can’t live with more weight
Em’s dying for approbation and of a consuming self-hate

A woman who tries to help her says, ‘I used to be like you.
Now I take it day by day, that’s all one can do.’
But Em’s past caring, being a girl’s too fucking hard
Her teenage years are ruined and her mind’s screwed up and scarred
‘My Em showed such promise,’ her mum cries every day
But society tells girls to look just so, and some end up this way.

Em can’t survive at 4st 3lbs but won’t live with more weight
She’s dying for approbation and of a consuming self-hate.
