This kind of field recording remix is intriguing, and you’ve put the pieces together nicely. Still, the whole effect is more like an extended freesound sample rather than a remix upload. It might be fun to try a more extended scenario with melodic passages, perhaps assembling a youtube video from creative commons images to fill out the ideas. In this truncated package, the mix comes off as more concept (and a neat bit of samples use) than a real ccmixter effort.

I never understand why people race trains.

Thank you. I had a lot of fun putting this together. It was my first effort with freesound samples and Audacity. I expect to take a little more time with subsequent sessions as I find my own style.

if you’re just getting started with synths and samples, and enjoy playing with audacity and wav files from freesound, I suggest you might enjoy http://www.ixi-software.net and its freeware beat slicing sampler Slicer, as well as http://www.cuttermusic.co and their freeware simple stand-alone synth Sawcutter 1.0. I use sawcutter 2.0, which costs 25 dollars or so, a lot these days. Although I have lots of more “sophisticated” synths, I love being able to load a freesound file into sawcutter 2.0 and create a sequenced song.
