This series is great Susan. Keep it up!

I do have one suggestion, though… It’s sometimes difficult to hear the voice over the background music of the interview segments. You could just lower the music volume, of course. But you might want to look into a technique called sidechain compression for those segments instead. It’s a simple to set up effect where the volume of one track is dropped whenever the volume of the other goes up.

So, the music stays at a decent listening volume while there is no speaking. Then whenever the person starts to speak the background music automatically “ducks” out of the way a bit, and when they stop the music automatically comes back.

It’s a technique used by a lot of professional radio announcers and DJs when they talk over background music. I think it could really improve the quality of your BPS shows.

Thanks for the input Clarence. I really appreciate it. I did decrease music volume under the voice, but this is the first I have heard about sidechain compression.

Well, that was relaxing and so very enjoyable learning a little more about Speck. This is such a fantastic podcast idea and you definitely ask the right questions. Thanks for making these happen.
