I check the mix in Audacity (the flacs) and in Media Player (the mp3, without equalizer). But, when I listen to the remix on ccMixter, the saxes seem to be a lot louder. What am I doing wrong?

After that, in Audacity, I export them to flac. Do you think I should convert the files to flac before dropping them into Audacity?
