Very interesting, a nice take and surprising to me. My wife (a trained musician) tells me I make these things too hard, but I chalked it up to my picking keys that fit my vocal range with no regard for natural progressions or real instruments. The first few versions of this were blues but seemed artificial. One of twenty or so of my back-burner ccMixter projects is to gin up a better backing track for this pell just to ward off quirky looks and serve as a guide; you’ll probably laugh when you hear how straight it sounds. Thanks for using it and drawing attention!

Thank you Mr Yesterday. I don’t think you make things too hard. In this take I just didn’t notice the piano, so I had no idea what the chord progression was. In take two I did. To me it sounds more like gospel then blues, although they are very similar often. Keep up the good work, I really like your voice and composition!

I didn’t dare to before, but you convinced to upload me a take where I cut out the C-part to make it sound more bluesy:

I hope you can hear the difference.

OK, you will probably find this hilarious but here goes: the remix, with the “Conventional Joes” aka Reaper MIDI synths. I thought about beat-slicing your fine improv to this but so far haven’t had the heart: it’s too much like sawing your foot to fit the shoe! Instead I thought I’d share this hint of where my head was at when I recorded. Maybe we can think of some way to collab together. (My bass-player son’s take: “Cool! Get a drummer….”) Thanks for a great ride, NiGiD, in any case!

That sounds really nice. And please don’t worry, you can slice up my bass in anyway you wish. Thank you too for the ride, it’s been fun. I worked another one of your songs, but couldn’t upload it yet due to the ‘quota’.
