Sun, Aug 10, 2008 @ 6:41 PM This was a good idea and a different approach. My only gripes are that the tempo of the vox and bells are working against one another at times and I think if you had added more bells at different pitches it would have worked better. Maybe even a little percussion here and there. I like this idea and its given me food for thought so thanks for that! Always interesting to listen to your take on samples. |
| . Quote: radiotimes My only gripes are that the tempo of the vox and bells are working against one another at times… Exactly. Have such counter-time things from past mainline artists like Joni Mitchell been forgotten today? Must everything fit 4/4? Quote: radiotimes … and I think if you had added more bells at different pitches it would have worked better. Maybe even a little percussion here and there. This mix is only a vehicle for the song, adding more bells would have started drowning out the voice, and destroy the slow addition of a new bell every couple of bars. There is a little percussion there, but unfortunately the mp3 compression hides it. I’ll await your take on the idea with interest. | |

Tue, Aug 12, 2008 @ 11:02 AM Prime example of less being a hell of a lot more. Very compelling, simple but stark, very hard to not listen to this. Very easy on the ears, i like this a lot. |
