I have been looking around for some new sounds lately, and I have a couple keepers….I really like lazysnake’s variety of ePiano sounds. Lazysnake is actually donationware, now that I read closer - it’s high-quality and worth a contribution if you start using it a lot. And I can’t believe FreeAmp2 (amp sim with multi-effects) is free - 128 presets that are great starting points for lots of directions - my humbuckers love it. Both of these are WWWWAAAYYY fun to play with in my opinion and the sounds are various & useful. I haven’t tried them together yet (that’s next ;)….. .. .

I agree. Freeamp is awesome. I use it as fx on recorded “dry” guitar. I can check many amp/fx combinations. For ambient “cosmic” pads I like Texture . Besides that I recomend Izotope Vinyl as a vinyl sound simulator.

Thanks! I liked those.
My recent trials, Superwave P8- a VST virtual analog synth. JX Synth- a very clean sounding oscillator synth. Bugpass- an easy to use, cool sounding bandpass filter. Lots of fun. : ) |

Here’s another huge audio freeware resource. It also has lots of miscellaneous audio apps, but the plug-in/virtual instrument categories are outstanding.
http://www.dontcrack.com/fr... And here is a series of all purpose audio processors, including compressors, expanders, spacers, limiters, etc, http://antress.myweb.hinet.... |

I’ve just re-discovered MDA VSTs which are rather good too.
http://www.mda-vst.com/ (click “AU & VST Effects” on the top menu bar) You can download the entire pack, which includes : Bandisto - Multi-band distortion BeatBox - Drum replacer Combo - Amp & speaker simulator De-ess - High frequency dynamics processor Degrade - Sample quality reduction Delay - Simple stereo delay with feedback tone control Detune - Simple up/down pitch shifting thickener Dither - Range of dither types including noise shaping DubDelay - Delay with feedback saturation and time/pitch modulation Dynamics - Compressor / Limiter / Gate Envelope - Envelope follower / VCA Image - Stereo image adjustment and M-S matrix Leslie - Rotary speaker simulator Limiter - Opto-electronic style limiter Loudness - Equal loudness contours for bass EQ and mix correction Multiband - Multi-band compressor with M-S processing modes Overdrive - Soft distortion Re-Psycho! - Drum loop pitch changer RezFilter - Resonant filter with LFO and envelope follower Round Panner - 3D panner Shepard - Continuously rising/falling tone generator Splitter - Frequency / level crossover for setting up dynamic processing Stereo Simulator - Haas delay and comb filtering Sub-Bass Synthesizer - Several low frequency enhancement methods Talkbox - High resolution vocoder TestTone - Signal generator with pink and white noise, impulses and sweeps Thru-Zero Flanger - Classic tape-flanging simulation Tracker - Pitch tracking oscillator, or pitch tracking EQ Vocoder - Switchable 8 or 16 band vocoder VocInput - Pitch tracking oscillator for generating vocoder carrier input AND Completely free. I’ve read great things about TalkBox which is good for vocal harmonies apparently….very useful when remixing or needing to re-pitch a full vocal or just a note. I didn’t realise what a problem this was until I started remixing other peoples vocals…..urm, I can just sing it again, what do I do??? lol :) ——- Update : I’ve added a talkbox demo snippet and a quick tutorial file to my February remix assets. http://ccmixter.org/media/f... |

I’ve fallen in love with the freeware whistle synth plug-in The Shepherd.
Here’s more details about it: http://www.kvraudio.com/get... Not only is it fun to sequence, but the resulting sounds sample beautifully into my sawcutter 2.0 softsynth |
