Tools I Used

Cubase 9.5 and tons of sophesticated (aka the standard stuff) plugins.

Samples I Used

Vidians library here on ccMixter and http://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Conet_Project/

The track consist (mostly) not of ready made loops, instead we sliced some of Vidians drum loops to put them into a drum machine. Other instruments are made of chromatic playable one shots out of the tracks and samples by Vidian.

From The Conet Project we used parts of
the swedish rhapsody - http://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Conet_Project/The_Conet_Project/tcp_d1_01_the_swedish_rhapsody_irdial
gong station chimes - http://freemusicarchive.org/music/The_Conet_Project/The_Conet_Project/gong_station_chimes

Process

It started with the bass of Blackbird Remix (btw.: it reminds us to Commando Remix by Front 242 https://open.spotify.com/album/6JypWZh2hWbISoQm7NLvmR ). Accidentally we stumbled across a documentation about number stations, so, that's the link to The Conet Project.

Also accidentally the track's key was Dmin and around that keys and the sliced and corrected "number girls" the track evolves into a somewhat cold and dim mood. We liked that, as usual.

Playing with the material also the vocals by CiggiBurns came to the mangle. As the track lacked a little of variety it was a no-brainer to add the bend and smoothed vocals. The cold and distant feeling of the vocals fitted really well. Add a vocoder to get even more eeriness.

The rest is mixing and adding some dark effects.

Other Notes

Advice: keep your track frequencywise clean and tidy. It helps alot to gain the last "oomph"!
