This song takes it’s title from the British Rail adverts in the 1980s “This is the age of the train” and it’s been inspired by me surfing cable music channels and reading some of the very funny conspiracy theories doing the rounds on the internet about how such dodgy music has become so popular. This satires MTV and co and I had a lot of fun making it. Peace :)

BTW, I tried making it sound sinister, but it still comes over as rather sweet compared to today’s chart music. Anyway it’s 3am so I’ll flick on some music TV- and guess what- all 10 channels are showing teleshopping. Perhaps that’s the catch, the subliminal messages during the day get you to buy some good ole clutter at night!

get a job hippy stop smoking the weed
cos love and peace is over now the message is greed
forget the blues now it’s rhythm and bling
and thatcher and reagan are decidedly left-wing
yes entertainment’s bought your soul
turned your kids into racist trolls
fuck us up and screw with our lives
buy themselves some trophy wives

pay per view for the rolling stones
with ambulance chasers and payday loans
the old common sense is the new insane
cos this is the age
yes this is the age of cocaine

mk ultra to mk dons
scary human headed black swans
butterflies and covered eyes
mi6 cia and mossad spies
pyramids and disney club
cover bands that play the pub
it’s the age of terrible infants
i wonder if britney’s wearing pants

hollywood swallowed music whole
put the rock and roll stars on the dole
rhianna and nicky minaj
bleach the rusty sheriff’s badge
rupert murdoch and adolf
is calvin harris the son of rolph?
metal’s macho disco gay
but the evil dudes choose caberet!

at the age of 27
they’ll send you on your way to illuminati heaven
or choose to suck the big man’s nipple
poke fun at refugees and cripples
whilst young besotted jay-z fans
do some weird shit with their hands
metallica make a few more quid
by suing pre-pubscent kids

Editorial pick

Stellarartwars’ social commentary with a humorous twist and just a pinch of eccentricity, set to timeless inventive and playful music that’s pushing forward like a runaway bulldozer in classic U.K. pop tradition is a winner. Very British, very adorable. Play loud!
