Kooler than Kobe

Just music this time.
I’d like to dedicate this one to my very cool Shakuhachi teacher Ganzan Harada-Sensei. Ganzan-san is over 70 but thinks like a very young man. He only speaks a little English and I speak even less Japanese but somehow he manages to teach me shakuhachi every Monday night on top of his little restaurant in Himeji.
This one is just me improvising in D minor, having a conversation with myself, as Bill Evans used to say.
At 7:41 it’s very self-indulgent I suppose, but what the hell – no one’s making you listen to it!
The acoustic bass is just a loop from Garageband. The percussion is my mouth. Stop laughing. We do what we can…
It has nothing to do with Kobe except that we go there from time to time because it has a great jazz scene.
I’ve already uploaded both shak parts in case anyone wants to take it in a different direction. Or further in the same direction – there are a hell of a lot of mixers out there better than me.
