I wrote this song may years ago, when romance was still romanticized. I never did much with it. It was never arranged for my band. I never recorded it. Recently, St. Paul asked if I had any poetry or lyrics laying around that I could share with him. I sent him these words. He created an inimitably beautiful St. Paul composition to go with them. In a wonderful way, the original melody of the song (more or less) fits as a counter-melody to Per’s composition. I think this is a stunning illustration of something…although I am not quite sure of what at this point.
