This is how I feel about ccMixter, and it seems topical. BY-licensed, in the spirit of sharing. BTW, if someone is interested and can do a sung/melody version, that would be both supremely awesome and within the spirit of the gig. I just couldn’t manage a decent melodic delivery myself, so I went with a straightforward poetry reading.

I love men and women I’ve never met,
except in song.
They dance within my sacred spaces,
pairs and crowds,
weaving together a tapestry of humanity;
they reach into the hidden places of my soul,
and whisper to it,
the celestial song.

In turn they listen to the clash,
and jangle,
and scratch,
and hum,
that I use as the brush for my aural canvas;
and they hear me;
they see me.

The hues and shades of a hundred voices,
the delicate color of a thousand sounds,
given to me freely,
to love and enjoy,
to mangle and warp,
and make my own;
so I show my spirit,
in union with other souls.

Brother, sisters, and strangers alike,
we gather in our shared home,
this temple of sound,
this musical holy ground.
We celebrate each other.
We embrace each other.
Here there are always connections,
always interactions,
and no one is alone.

Faces unknown to me,
lives that I have no part in,
become my family and friends.
We are together in this white cube,
waiting for us to share the Muse,
waiting for us to share our hearts,
waiting for us to bring it to life,
with infinite noise and harmony.
