If I state that I do not want AI to touch my work, will my wishes be respected?

Hi all,
I’m new here, and I’ve been working on an EP - my first ever - and I was initially excited to post my stems ‘n’ stuff up on here to get remixed. But something that’s giving me pause is what seems to me (based on a very light skim-reading of a few forum topics, in all fairness) to be a permissive stance on the use of AI. In songs, in music videos, so on… and I can’t help but side-eye given my own stance on the matter. Willing (begging, really, lol) to be corrected if I’m misunderstanding something. My art is personal, but more than that it’s human. I may have used software to compose the music, but a DAW is simply not the same as the things being widely referred to as AI. The general sonic idea still lives in my head before I even use the software to articulate myself - but I, a human, still have to do that. The lyrics, too, still live in my head before I write and rewrite them, and sing them. It can be challenging sometimes, and it’s certainly been a hell of a learning process not only doing a cohesive body of work like this rather than disparate individual songs, but also working on tracks written with vocals in mind for the first time. But it’s been rewarding, and I believe it’s largely because I’m doing all that. And it’s more involved than just typing some words in a prompt box and refreshing (x) amount of times. Aaaaanyway, I could yarn forever, but in a nutshell, my point is pretty much the title. If I put in some kind of tag, or write in the description that no one is to use AI on my voice, my music, my anything, will that be respected? Or should I just take my craft elsewhere? |

LeXistenZiaLisM,
Thank you for asking a crucial question! The producers and artists here would honor your request 100%. For example, if you had a tag that said: do_not_use_for_ai I would know that you don’t approve of it being put into any kind of ai apps, and I would never do so, period. Me and a growing, global community as well! So yeah, definitely bring your craft here, we are a home to all artists. BUT There is no way this community or any community on the internet can guarantee that an outsider/bot won’t disrespect your conditions. I don’t mean to sound harsh about that, but if someone can play a sound in an app or a browser page, they can also save it either as a recording or capture it with some kind of third-party app. (As an artist myself, I wish there was a safer way other than just old-school in-person collaboration). Two things to consider to test the water here: 1) making a remix of someone else’s music stems with your vocals. 2) making a remix of someone’s acappella with your music. [or a blend of the two] because you don’t have to add stems/acappellas to remixes you upload, you just have to credit what you use. This will demonstrate your talent, and you can reach out to potential collaborators here and exchange stems through apps like google-drive. Please let me know what you think of these suggestions. Kind regards, Apoxode |

Apoxode,
Thank you for taking the time to reply! Let me first start by saying that I have not taken anything you’ve said as harsh at all! I completely understand that outsiders might not respect that so much. Such is the world in which we currently live I s’pose… I would like to stress that my primary concern was whether the people within this specific community would honour my wishes. If what you’re saying is true, that reassures me! I’ll probably just proceed as I’d originally planned in my head, which is to upload songs and their stems here as I complete them in the lead-up to dropping my EP. Sidebar: I’ve kind of got it in my head that I want to eventually drop a companion remix album at some stage and in addition to my own “remixes” that are currently on the drawing board (I’m aware we can’t upload remixes of ourselves, don’t worry) I’d like to include some that people here create, with permission of course. I just… think it would be fun! Kind regards, LeXistenZiaLisM |

LeXistenZiaLisM,
We would be thrilled to have an event where members can contribute remixes of the same stems. We have had tremendous success with such events in the past, and the artists for around whom the events are centered enjoyed the results as well. I encourage you to send a message to our administrative team (link at very bottom of page) to get the ball rolling. That way, we can determine what you are willing to present, what your expectations are, etc. so that you, too can have a positive experience! Thank you for choosing to stick with us, we are glad to have you on board. Kindly, Apoxode |

Apoxode,
Sorry for the late reply - I’ve just sent a message to the admin team now. Thanks for having me, I’m excited to share my stuff (and I’ll probably remix others here too, depending on where I feel my creative energy sort of pulling me, if that makes sense). Kindly, LeXistenZiaLisM |
