ccMixter is officially turning 21 years old — and that means it’s time to celebrate 21 years of remix culture, collaboration, and community.

Since our founding in 2004 as a Creative Commons project, ccMixter has been a home for musical produsage — where listeners become creators, samplers become composers, and remixers become collaborators. Over the past 21 years, we’ve built a catalog of over 10,000 samples shared openly for creative reuse, featuring everyone from grassroots bedroom producers to the Beastie Boys and David Byrne.

Turning 21 isn’t just about crossing a milestone — it’s like hitting blackjack at the table of life. We’re doubling down on creativity, taking the risk, and letting the cards (and chords) fall where they may. Every remix is a hand we play together, building harmonies like stacked chips and laying down beats like aces on the table. With this Secret Mixter, we’re betting on the power of collaboration, shuffling the deck of our community’s catalog, and dealing out fresh interpretations that hit the jackpot of sound. Because when music and freedom come together at 21, the house always wins — and in our house, everyone plays.
