When you think of me, you should think of fire. Risen from ashes, again and again

I wonder if eshar is being credited for this usage of her poem “The Phoenix” (which by the way has a BY-NC license) in this recent “John Wick: Ballerina” movie trailer…

s.c.mixer,
It certainly sounds like the same recording! Most likely, she made an exception for the usage of her work. It’s worth reaching out to her to confirm that. The only problem (if any) is how? She doesn’t seem to be active here or at looperman anymore. Let me know if you make contact with her. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Kindly, Apoxode |

I tried sending her an email through the link on her profile page. I’m really curious to learn if she even knows about it, and if she wasn’t aware it was being done how does she feel about it. Angry? Proud? Exploited? Flattered?
I will say - it’s pretty cool to see something from our little corner of the internet used in such a (again seemingly) major production. And it did prompt me to explore more of her spoken word uploads. She’s got a lot of great ones. |
