Before I found ccmixter I used to visit a 3d virtual world named Second Life where there were lots of live musicians performing at virtual venues. Some of them even made quite significant source of income in the virtual currency called Lindens. Nowdays it seems that things don’t go that well. Most of the venues closed. Looks like the crisis started with a ban on gambling that they enacted after 2008. Now there are maybe 10-20% left of those still performing. 2007 till 2009 were the best years and there were lots and lots of live events and venues thriving.

I’m not a second life musician but had friends that were. Too bad the music scene was essentially squashed. Very cool avenue for musicians.
