This is actually important for everyone to understand who wants to be attributed (or otherwise found): If you change your name and/or web location and you want to prevent your old connections from breaking, you need to forward the old links to the new one’s - either with some automatic HTTP magic, HTACCESS code or even just a link to the new page at the old URL. Because you can’t expect all the good people who linked to you either voluntarily or by obligation to find out and do extra work, just because you made a change.
