Search function

Browser: Mozilla (not the new release).

I hit “Search” at the upper right hand section of the page. I got two aberrant results:

“Permission denied to call method XMLHttpRequest.open”

and also “endless thinks” in which the little “thinking” circle spun, but the search page did not appear.

Once, search page appeared, I entered my search, and then the search did not work.

This is the first time this has happened for me when I use search.

Is this repeatable? If so, what page did you start on when it happens?

Hi Victor:

I tried it on my work computer, and got it to repeat.

I start on the home page. I click on the Search—Find Content button.

When I click on it with my AOL browser, it works just as intended.

When I click on it with Mozilla Firefox, then I got this message:

Permission denied to call method XMLHttpRequest.open

I am not sure what I am doing wrong, or if it is a bug.

you’re not doing anything wrong that’s for sure.

I’m assuming you did ye old clear out your cache routine?

I was on my work computer this time, rather than home, so I did not clean out the cache. I decided to try cleaning out the work cache anyway.

In Mozilla Firefox, I got the search function to work from the home page by clicking once.

However, to make sure of my result, I tried it again—and clicked more than once, resulting in problems similar to the ones I encountered from home and earlier from work.

My theory now is that perhaps it is user error—based on clicking the search button twice rather than once. I don’t know if that theory is accurate, but it may fit the facts above.

fwiw I think I may have a fix for this (it works on my machine) but I don’t quite trust it to change it on the site quite yet. It’s yet another subtle change that could have far reaching consequences so I want to make sure. Thanks for pointing this one out.

I’ve put this fix onto the site.

You should refresh your browser before trying it out.

Thanks
