Hey,

Just tried Audacity, a free open source software mixer that works on Windows, Mac, and Linux. It seems like a good, capable option for someone (like me) who has little budget for such things. Here’s a link:

Please Please Please Use Traktion for sequencing-its free at the moment and great! look at mackie.com or on the wired competition page…
Personally audacity bites on my mac- never have quite got round its little quirks- but maybe thats just me. Saying that its free and still lives on my hard drive for emergencies!

Tried Tracktion last night, and Shoes is right - it’s good software. It is taking some time to learn, but I’m only like a couple hours in, and the second hour went much better than the first. The "Boot Camp" instructional page is definitely a good place to start if you’re inexperienced like me (here it is in case you didn’t catch it on the contest entry page: http://www.paintingbynumber... Hopefully I’ll finish my Freestyle contest entry in time - it’s the first mashup/cutup I’ve done.

Here’s another useful link to another discussion on the Home Recording bbs where they talk about Tracktion and some other audio editing software…

I went to go download Tracktion to try it out - but it’s got a price tag associated with it now…
