This is awesome man—superb “radio” mix that hits the spot! I love the organ intro, and the virtual guitar sounds cool to me (though I’d agree with you that real strings are difficult to beat for attack, tone and dynamics). But it’s great what you did with the dry vocal sample—not only a lovely lead vox sound, but also backing vox with some nice delays. Really happy with this. I learned this song back in 1982 (I was 21) while on a cross-Channel ferry. The boat was full of rugby supporters on their way to an international sports festival: on one side were Scots supporters, singing their heaqds off, and on the other side were Irish, doing the same. Me and my mate were two Englishmen in the middle, trying to have a quiet game of chess. Eventually we gave up and I joined the Irish crowd, where some folkies taught me this song. I sometimes watch the old black&white Lizzy version on YouTube, which is likewise great. Thanks again!

Noticed you updated the file—yeah, sounds great—and prefer this intro.
