Great use of the stereo field on all those guitar bits, both the electrics and acoustics… they come in from all over, with crystal clarity.

Thanks. Wished I had a better mic for the acoustic bits (I used a $9.99 computer mic from Office Depot) but a little reverb went a long way.

Excellent instrumental. There are some great blasting moments, as well as subtle and brief periods of introspection. I’ve a question about the guitars. Did you program them or were they played? I know how to make my guitar sound fake, and it works in certain instances such as this. But I also have VSTs that can produce similar blasts.

Oh, wait. I just realized I did use a VST bass for a six note riff that appears once, right before the electric piano comes in toward the end. Other than THAT, it’s all actual guitars.

Thanks Joe! All of the electric guitars on this track are sampled from the original B&G song, though some of them are sliced up and layered (i.e. the heavy distorted parts, which are bits of the crunchy lead line on the original track). I used VSTs for the electric piano and vibraphone.
