Wow, Dox, this is most excellent! First, I’m really happy this pella got used. Second, I just really enjoyed this groove — superb drums, bass, & sax all working well together & supporting the vox & gtr. Much thanks & kudos!

Thank you ;-). I’m happy too it all got working together with Martijn’s bass. I guess if he didn’t make it first there wouldn’t be this mix.

Yeah, Martijn’s making a lot of good stuff happen — really love his playing. This track has a great overall vibe, very “band-like” — well done for creating that feel!

Stop it LOL!

I’m just adding a small part to the bigger thing. And relatively there are just fewer people playing bass. Probably because of this:

That is funny (I actually did lol). I’d like to second Javo’s remark about you making good things happen. I know you’ve been a major inspiration for me. I especially like when you do a bass track with one other and there’s an indication of the key, so I can look up where that scale is on the keyboard and actually try to play. Gives me great joy.

Just to make sure I understand Speck: would it be helpfull if I write down the chord progression? Or is it (and I know it can be) just harder to tell what keys are used by listening to the (low sound of the) bass?

Being an inspiration to other musicians (and vice versa) is perhaps the biggest delight for me in music. So thank you for your kind words :)

At this point the simpler the better. I am not a musician and just being able to find a scale in the right key, or chords, on the keyboard (I’ve been using this) is new and enough to keep me learning but not overwhelmed.

Well that looks handy. In the future, I will try to write down the chords when I upload ideas for songs.

This tool may help you a bit. Great when I don’t have my keyboard at hand and have to analyse loads of samples at once. Wish I had perfect pitch but I don’t.

Hey thanks, I will check that out. I’ve also recently obtained Melodyne Essential and have been using it to put a single instrument track into for the sole purpose of identifying the key.

Very nice. Great sample gathering and mixing, clean and naturalistic. (Excellent drums too, thanks for sharing.)
