oh i’m sorry i never sent you the chords! you sound great! you may want to try to recording with a click to keep the tempo consistent? although the way you do it free form makes it feel live a lovely live performance. thank you for covering this song — i am honored :D

Thanks snowflake. I’m glad you like my attempt. Yes, a click track is a good idea, although I do like the live feel. If you don’t mind, I might perform it at our open mic in May, with due acknowledgement of course. I’d also be happy to have another go if you do have a moment to add / send your chords. Thanks again for allowing me the opportunity to cover ‘The Light’. I never tire of it ;-)

Really cool cover. It’s fun to hear this song done on the ol’ guitar… works well. I’d be curious to hear some guitar variations throughout… for example, go from continuously strummed to picking… play with the dynamics… perhaps strumming for the chorus with a great pause and then go into picking… that kinda thing…

Thanks Kara. That’s a great suggestion. I’ll keep working at it.

notwithstanding from snowflake I like the variations of the tempo in your version. I would mix your vocals a bit more upfront as they sound a bit like they try to hide behind the guitar - while there is nothing to hide. you sound beautiful.

Thank you so much Keytronic. I might record it again when I’ve had more time to practice it.

We might think that you are in the same studio, to make music tests on this song ….

I kept listening to this song when I was remixing it, trying to figure out why your voice sounds so familiar to me. And now it clicked. Renaissance. You have that quality to your voice. It is nostalgic, mystical, silky. Ever listened to Dead Can Dance? Did I see somewhere you participate in Renaissance Fair or something similar? Makes sense now.

Interesting another mixter here thinks I sound like Annie Haslam from Renaissance. Earlier in the week I made a recording singing along with ‘Ocean Gypsy’ as I’m thinking about covering it on guitar. I don’t recall Dead Can Dance - will look it up. This recording of ‘The Light’ is a cover of snowflake’s song :-)

Oh yes, was aware is a cover. Now there are a lot of videos on YouTube for Dead Can Dance. Check it out. You have that same feel, or spirit? as Lisa Gerard.
