One of my favorite sounds, beautifully presented.

Hey Speck—thanks—one of my most favorite pieces of music is a recording of a Mbira Spirit Ceremony played by Forward Kwendo its a Shona peoples of Zimbabwe ceremony I think. I just picked up this Trance (Trance inducing not Trance dance)CD and its on there—just amazing and I don’t mind saying it makes me melt. If you have 23mins to spare take a listen. I’ll pass on details if your interested.

That’s gorgeous. The interplay of the parts is just right and I like the way you have the kalimba so richly resonant.

We are talking kalimba and not marimba, right? If you play around with them enough I could see how they’d end up sounding rather alike. The marimba’s on my mind because I was listening to Peter Gabriel’s Secret World Live the other day, so I’m just wondering. Where’d you get the sound from?

Hey essesq—-yep Kalimba-not marimba. I started to make one a while back—I was given a big box of gourds which I had all these plans for but never got around to using—anyhoo, I ended up going with an electronic version that was a preset on my synth—it is a very nice sound.

Thank you for clearing it up. Lucky you having sounds so rich and nice to work with. Thanks again for such a great track. It got me thinking for a moment that along with my babbling I should do a few instrumentals or maybe a musical remix, heavens forbid :-).
