I had that very thought going through the uploads: how poignant it might be if somebody added sax and bass to the piece he’d tagged with that message.

You did good, using FB himself. And the crazy-*** piano is definitely in the same spirit.

Thanks man, means a lot. You’re quick, just getting ready to replace the track. I think it needs a little reverb, some air to breath. Joe always kept it real with his “Human Drums” which I really adored.

Thank you . I’m glad he had a sax upload, wouldn’t have been the same without it.

Thanks, yeah I felt like Joe was talking to me when I read the description about him wanting to add sax and bass. I started to pull up a virtual instrument for sax, then I thought about searching for sax samples, but I swear I almost felt like he was over my shoulder like…”really…you’re not gonna use my sax sample?…c’mon man…make it work!”
I think a part of me doesn’t like to get too deep…too far into chaos. I prefer a little more musical structure…but I was like ..no, this isn’t about me, and it isn’t me. As we all have, I really tried to be more of a channel.

I get you — my experience both in making my track and listening to others is all about FPB and how he communicated through his music. Despite the sadness, this has been, in some ways, a very beautiful experience.

The ill-tempered sax was a big part of my very first upload here on ccM a couple years back. I remember thinking at the time ‘oh man I hate to use up what might be the best sample here on my first go’ being more a save the best for last type. But it was too good to resist. Anyway - it’s great to hear what you’ve done with it. Very cool piece. And thanks for uploading the piano stem. (I hope, I haven’t actually clicked downloads yet.)

You just reminded me of this video I saw where Louis CK talks about George Carlin and his attitude about “Using up the good material” check it out around the 4:55 mark. The whole video is great though.

I love that idea of “Throw it all away…Dig Deeper”

I think I’ve always felt that way, well, maybe not always…but it’s nice to hear it put in words like that. I think Joe definitely did that too.
