I know what you mean about the vocal conflict. When I added it at first the natural tones in the vocal made it hard to clearly hear the words so I did some adjusting with various Waves plugins. I was on the point of looking for another appropriate pella to work with but on repeated listening felt the ghostly references gave it a little charm and left it at that. Lazy me!!
