Thanks, Kara, especially for validating the choice to keep it spare. I downloaded more material and parts for this than ever before. I set up the piano and percussion as the backbone and did the voice as a sort of backing track and was planning my usual Secret Mixter bricolage… Then I loaded Those Sweet Words into my DAW project and Bam! It just fit perfectly.

I love the way you combined these tracks, and especially that we are performing a duet together! The panning of your vocal to the right and mine to the left is very effective. Your vocal performance is beautiful — perfect pitch, genuine warmth, and well-crafted lyrics. Nice addition of unreal_dm on percussion too. Thanks so much for this artistic and meaningful track.

I had a nice, long hike through your oeuvre here on ccMixter along the way. Even snipped a part of Eve (Say Yes) to use for this, but decided that would be like taking a chip out of the Koh-i-Noor to decorate my hatband (i.e., it’s perfect). I think this one is better this way. |

Yeah, I have been living those bongos… Unearthed on a dig through unreal_dm’s stems for SJ01-130 (6 - Percussion.mp3), where they live with the tambourine.

This is really a nice fit. The order of the instruments and vocals in the room is pretty interesting. The very close to mic by Emily. and the instruments in the back ground. Very cool. |
