A clean expression of a careful optimism. Cool instrumentation and style.

Thank you Speck. I value your opinion. I am generally optimistic, but the lyrics here are a bit tongue-in-cheek.

“Every word has been used up
Every note played and reference made” I love the lyrics and delivery in this, FB. Actually, I love the whole track. I’ve listened a number of times… It’s really cool to listen to Jeris’ samples in his original track and your use of them back to back… Flippin’ awesome. It’s cool that your mind thought to use them this way. Well done, my friend. |

Thank you Kara! “Every word has been used up
Every note played and reference made” I do feel that way sometimes. It’s getting to the point musically, where sounding original is getting more difficult. What will musicians do 50 years from now… where is there to go? |

I feel that way, too. I recently wrote similar words. It’s kinda like this saying: You’re unique just like everybody else. I find both comfort and disappointment in those kind of thoughts. It’s also similar to any fight for civil rights… If folks just knew how ‘normal’ a lesbian relationship really is. “People are just people.” (Regina Spektor) As for music and where people will go… maybe it isn’t about the music anyway. Maybe it’s always been about the emotion. Bum, buh, dum. :) (Sorry for the long stream-of-thought rant there…)

Oh, you know I like your long-stream rants :) I love Regina Spektor as well. Have a couple of her CD’s. That quote from Regina reminds me of a Depeche Mode lyric, “People are people so why should it be, you and I should get along so awfully.”

You just made my day (the fact that you dig Regina). Do you have “Soviet Kitsch”? My fav from her… by far. “I kissed your lips and I tasted blood…” Damn, I love that song. And yup, nice Depeche Mode quote, too.

Yes, I have that one. I first heard a song off of that album on a live NPR show with Terry Gross. I immediately ordered the album online. She’s very talented and original.

Your songs and performance style are among my favourite things (along with dew drops on noses and whiskers on cheese). I wish you’d do more of them. In fact, that’s an order: Do More! xxxx

.
I shall follow your orders, my dear. I’m pleased you appreciate my style, as I do yours. Thanks, FB
