It seems that the original inspired the whole track (although it comes out only in the end) since zikweb’s stepped motion has turned here into a stepped gated approach for the whole song. I simply never heard such a treatment, for too many it was a sort of “end of beat” trick.
The contrast with long notes in Admiral’s pella and guitar swells is simply beautiful.
