George Arkomanis
About Me
The award-winning George Arkomanis (Tristan) constitutes one of the
most distinguishable and talented cases in the field of worldwide art.
His unique capacity as a composer, conductor and magician, has made
the internationally recognized artist Michael Ammar, to attribute
to him the nickname “The Maestro Magician”.
He was born in Athens and from 10 years old he started classical guitar lessons
with J. Rogers and at the same time he took up learning the electric and acoustic guitar.
Then, he studied the Greek folk and eclectic music -in theory and in practice- with
the help of important artists of this kind (C. Konstantinou, N. Tatasopoulos,
I. Lepeniotis, K. Vamvoukos and many more) and from 1998 he started
his professional way, as a bouzouki soloist.
At the same time he attended piano and theory lessons with T. Xirakis,
and then harmony, morphology, music analysis and singing with G. Sourmaidis,
as well as jazz harmony and orchestration with N. Kotaras.
He studied “Special Harmony” with P. Hiou (Orpheus Conservatory),
“Special Counterpoint”, “Fugue” (National Music Academy) and
“Composition” (LCM, University Of West London) with N. Kariotis
and “Conducting” with R. Pilarinos (LCM, UOWL).
Furthermore, he is the first Greek who gained the title “FLCM”.
He took part in seminars, conferences and master classes (conducting, composition, orchestration, artistic quality, plays’ analysis, morphology, instrumentation, music notation, history, kinaesthetics, music therapy, philosophy, psychology, performance etc.) of major artists (T. Antoniou, J. Howard, J. McBride, S. Sakkas, Y. Minas,
E. Burger, K. James, S. Klapsis and many more).
He has taught in various art & culture halls, academic institutions etc.
(The Centre Of Classical & Contemporary Music, International
Brotherhood Of Magicians, Thoukidideios Cultural Organization etc.).
He has also written articles, speeches, interviews, essays and poems of general content, but mainly about arts, society, supernatural, life etc.
Many of those have been published in newspapers and magazines
(Ta Nea, Vimagazino, Magician, Ogdoo etc.).
In parallel, he is involved with the art of magic and he is widely known with
the artistic name Tristan. He is -maybe- the only one worldwide who has theorized
in such a sophisticated way, the association between the two arts and he has
given several seminars, conferences and master classes on this issue.
His performances are a unique spectacle where magic, music, speech and movement blend together and compose a new area of expression and meaning.
He has composed works and songs for solo, small and big music ensembles,
with the frequent participation of musical instruments, structures and kinds of
different orientation and aesthetics, in association with contemporary and
many times innovative perceptions that outlined his personal style.
He has composed innovative music for many artists as well as shows,
films, performances, theatres, documentaries, advertisements etc.
(One Magic Show, Children Of Internment, Magic Sundays, Shadows In The Dust, Magic Music, Cube, Mirror Forest, Edgar Allan Poe, Metaphysical Magic Show,
Cube, Wonders Of Magic, Marble Thoughts and many others).
He has brought out five music albums (Giati M’ Agapises 2011, Rainy Night 2013,
Fake Truths 2014, Confessions 2015, Music Gallery 2016),
one DVD (Shadows In The Dust 2016), as well as other works,
accompanying album of other artists
