The story behind the ccMixter Rasta Kitchen Perspective remix

Part 1: While checking the license (or in this case permission) to use the Aiva’s vocal in our remix of SackJo22’s Perspectives, the download web site provided a link to CC BY audio samples of kitchen banter from a Rasta Mokko’s rastafari cooking show called Ras Kitchen.

Listening to Apoxode’s experimental downtempo beat, it seemed a reasonable idea to create a kitchen perspective by dubbing Ras’ vocal over the Apoxode beat.

Part 2: A sample track provided entitled “building the rhythm” shows how Apoxode’s beat was used to build a tuned percussive, funky, soul, reggae dub fusion track very much in the key of F#. Starting with Apoxodes beat a second dance style 4 on floor kick is added. Two different reggae dub beats are added in an alternating manner for contrast.

Lastly, funky bass is added followed by a soul music style Rhodes and then acoustic paino. The result is an Apoxode, reggae dub, funk and soul fusion rhythm.
