I took a long walk along the beach last night.
I spotted a few distant fires on the beach but didn’t want to intrude.
It brought back a few memories and teenage regrets.
Thanks to Adrian for the “beatlesk” piano progressions even though I’m sorry to say the end result is more like Elton John. :-0.
The pell can be found here;

We used go down to the beach at night
sit around that fire
to the sound of those waves
in the promenade light.
(if I remember it right)

With my old guitar
I could afford
half a case of beer
on my broke up board
playn Led Zeppelin till my fingers wore
(you were lookn alright)

And I can taste you now
in that moonlight how?
when the salts been drying on your shoulder
the ashes in that fire
that burned so bright
now my driftwoods grey and so much older.

And I wish I just could take back time again
to feel your breathe that close to mine again

with all those plans….
I should have told her

now the tide has has turned
but still my dreams still spark
and smolder

under crescent moon
I ‘d love to hold her
again

It used be a time
along a thin shoreline
so very close to me
but I as I grew old
and the sea drew back

(faded into memory)

with my old torn Q’s
that I’d traded for a suit
and a brand new house
with a car with a boot
and a wife and kid
(so very dear to me)

But I can taste her now
in that moonlight how
when the salts been drying on her shoulder
the ashes in that fire
still burn so bright
even though my driftwoods grey and so much older

And I wish I could just take that time and then
to feel her breathe that close to mine again

with all those plans….
I should have
told her
now the tide has has turned
but my dreams still spark
and smolder

under crescent moon
I ‘d love to hold her
again

(and darling if I bumped into you now -
would you even still recognize me?
That old print on your poncho is faded…
but I’ve kept it close to me…
under crescent moon.
