Part tongue-in-cheek, part “country verite’”. Starts with a spoken word chorus and deteriorates rapidly from there. Enjoy!
sample 1. demo sample 2. dry vocal & spoken word chorus I’m drowning in the Cuervo River, Buddy can you toss me a lime, I thought I’d seen the bottom, But it’s serious this time, I’m powerless against the lure, Of the neon siren’s call, I just can’t pass on the clink of a glass, the smoke, and alcohol. v. 1 There’s a place out on the six-lane black top, In a haze of purple light, You can hear the whine of the Michelins, rolling through the night. They tie you on a bar stool, And prop a chair against the door, And they don’t let you up ‘til you’re broke or blind, And up the creek without an oar. v 2. It’s got me by the ankles, And it’s trying to pull me down, It’s got me so I never know, How long I’ll be around. The things you do come back on you, No matter where you are, and I’ve spent 100 days inventing ways of lowering the bar.
